Bulk Commodities in Containers

Recent developments in the shipping industry have seen the advent of bulk commodities, normally transported in bulk vessels, being transported in containers.   Seaway’s customers find that the ability to ship smaller, more frequent lots of their products has it’s advantages such as improved cash flow, reduced storage requirements, no risk of vessel demurrage charges and easier transportation from wharf to final destination.

Seaway specialises in this high growth segment and below represents examples of the bulk commodities we today ship regularly in containers:

  • Grains and Stockfeed/ Hay
  • Protein Meals and Tallow
  • Mineral sands
  • Aluminium Ingots
  • Coal, Brown Coal Briquettes and Char
  • Wine (using specialised flexitanks in general containers)
